The Super Essex Conference, in a meeting of it’s membership, approved a merger for football with three other northern New Jersey conferences to begin in 2016. This approval shall join the SEC with the Big North, NJAC and Hudson County Interscholastic Conference in a 115 school league which will comprise seventeen divisions. The vote was 29-2 with six schools not picking a side.
With the approval of the other three conferences this new super conference shall begin to develop plans for implementation. The SEC’s approval is for a two year football cycle comprising the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 school years. A review and continued approval would then be necessary for following seasons.
