The Championship Final of the 2016 Essex County Boys Basketball Tournament will have the top two seeds facing off.  East Side, seeded second, defeated the East Orange Jaguars, seeded sixth, 64-42 Tuesday night in the nightcap of the tournament semifinals. Earlier in the evening number one seed Seton Hall Prep eliminated fifth seeded West Side by a score of 61-46.

So, at 1pm Saturday at Essex County College’s gymnasium these two long time county rivals will contend for the championship title.

The game is the first half of the Essex County Boy-Girls Championship Final doubleheader. At 3pm the girl’s final will tip off. Tickets for the twin bill will be a $10 general admission at the door.

The girls semifinals will be held Wednesday evening, February 24th, 5pm and 7pm at Weequahic High School. The first game has Shabazz (4) against East Orange Campus (1). The second game is Newark Tech (7) versus University (3). Tickets for the semifinals are $8 general admission at the door.
