The Super Essex Conference held it’s Track & Field Championship Meet for the American and Liberty Division on Saturday at Schools Stadium in Newark. In the American Division it was the Montclair Girls Team outdistancing Columbia, 143-133. Montclair took the gold medals in the 200m, 400m, 800m, 4 x 400m relay and the triple jump. Millburn was third with West Orange and East Orange Campus rounding out the top five.
On the boys side it was East Orange Campus edging Seton Hall Prep, 120-144. East Orange won the 200m, 110m hurdles, 400m hurdles triple jump and shot put. Columbia was third with West Orange fourth and Montclair fifth.
The Liberty Division saw the girls team from Livingston easily outscoring second place Weequahic 142-86, with West Essex, Bloomfield and Orange trialing behind. Livingston won the 400m and the Pole Vault and scored well in the distance runs, hurdles and field events.
For the boys it was West Essex emerging on top with a close 110 – 101 edge over second place Weequahic. Livingston was third, followed by Bloomfield and then Nutley. West Essex captured gold in the 400m, 400m hurdles, Pole Vault and High Jump and scored well in the High Jump and 3200m events.
