The Essex County Boys Basketball Tournament has completed the “Play In” portion of the bracket through three preliminary rounds. Now, the top eight seeds jump into competition in the First Round, playing against the eight survivors. Two upsets have altered what would have been the expected first round seeding as West Essex (20) defeated Irvington (13) and Orange (18) moved past Newark Tech (15).
So, there is a full slate of eight games scheduled for Saturday. The winners shall advance to the Quarterfinals scheduled for next Saturday, February 12th. Both of these rounds are to be played on the higher seed’s court.
