The directors of the Essex County Girls Volleyball Tournament have released the tournament bracket for this year’s competition. The seeding, determined by a committee of head coaches, lists 37 participating teams. Play begins this weekend with 5 1st preliminary round games. There will be two additional rounds of preliminaries in order to fill the field of the main draw, or First Round scheduled to be played on Saturday, October 14th.
The top eight seeds have been given “byes” into the First Round. They are Livingston (1), Verona (2), Millburn (3), West Essex (4), Newark Academy (5), Mt St Dominic Academy (6), Montclair Kimberley Academy (7) and West Orange (8).
The 1st prelims will have the following match-ups;
West Side (37) at Irvington (28)
North Star Academy (36) at Central (29)
Newark Lab (35) at Gold Och Academy (30)
University (34) at Newark Vocational (31)
Bard Early College (33) at Abundant Life Academy (32)
