It was quite a day for high school sports in Essex County. Four championship matches were competed, and four teams became 2024 Essex County Champions.
In Bloomfield, top seeded Millburn defeated Verona, the second seed, to win the Girls Volleyball Tournament by a score of 2 sets to 0.
In West Essex, second seeded Montclair played hard but fell to the top seed, West Essex by a score of 3 goals to 2.
In Livingston it was the soccer championships doubleheader. In the first match, host school Livingston Girls scored early, then held off a determined West Orange squad and took the Girls Soccer Tournament trophy by a score of 1-0.
Finally, in a very physical matchup St Benedict’s Prep (1) came back after an early goal by Seton Hall Prep (6) by scoring four goals in it’s 4-1 victory.
