The Essex County Field Hockey Tournament began play with two Preliminary Round contests on Thursday.
Glen Ridge, the 8th seed and Caldwell, seeded 7th, both advanced to the main draw.
The First Round of the tournament is scheduled for Saturday, October 19 at the field of the higher seed.
