Montclair Immaculate Conception captured the Essex County Girls Basketball Tournament title over University High School on Saturday. The game was played in front of a packed house at Essex County College. University was the last girls’ champion, having won the crown in 2020. The tournament was not competed in 2021 due to Covid.
In the second game of the championship doubleheader Seton Hall Prep prevailed over Central High School. The Prep last won the title in 2016 while Central last stood as champions in 1973.
