Seventh seeded Newark Tech will match up against top seeded East Orange Campus 3pm on Saturday for the 2016 Essex County Girls Basketball Tournament Championship. On Wednesday evening Newark Tech (14-10) eliminated third seeded University (17-6), by a score of 53-48 in the semifinal round held at Weequahic High School. The other half of the semifinal saw East Orange (18-3) victorious against  fourth seeded Shabazz (14-8) winning 41-27.

The Championship Final will be played at Essex County College as the second half of a doubleheader with the boys’ championship game pitting Seton Hall Prep (1) against East Side (2). That game is scheduled to tipp off at 1pm.
