The Super Essex Conference, at it’s June membership meeting, has ratified a summer non-contact period for all member schools. The ruling, slated to be mandatory in 2015, has each school choose a 9 day period in which coaches will not meet nor practice with their teams. The rationale is to provide athletes with a period for family vacations and a break from the rigors of training. Four SEC schools have elected to start the program this summer. Millburn, Nutley and Montclair Kimberley Academy will shut down athletic programs from August 1 to 10. Saint Vincent’s Academy shall implement its program starting on August 2, running through August 10.
