The Athletic Directors of the Super Essex Conference have voted to ratify new divisions for the next two year cycle of fall sports. In two major shifts Football will go from a 3 division format to a 4 division format with Immaculate Conception High School returning to the Conference schedule while MKA and Newark Academy have been given permission to seek independent schedules for the next four years. Also, Boys Soccer will change from a 4 division alignment to 3 divisions. The larger divisions will create a schedule in which divisional members play only once in Conference play whereas in the past they had been scheduled twice a season.
The other Conference fall sports, Boys and Girls Cross Country, Girls Volleyball, Girls Soccer and Field Hockey retain their divisional set-up. However, as per the Super Essex’s philosophy of aligning competitive divisions, some schools shall shift divisions in this new cycle. The new divisions shall be formally announced upon completion of an Appeals Procedure in which schools may appeal their placement and be given a hearing.
